Walk in Clinic

Friday 16th December 2016 from 10.30am to 3:00pm

The practice held a Walk in Clinic where no appointments were needed for those hard to reach patients who could get a baby vaccination done, a cervical smear done, their blood pressure checked and there were also representatives from the Stop Smoking team available to talk to if needed.

Although not many people turned up, those who did received a good service and felt it was very useful in not having to make an appointment.   The practice are considering a Walk in Clinic again in 2017 so keep an eye on this website to see what day this will be.

Stop Smoking Day

8th March 2017 from 11am to 3pm

A Stop Smoking Day was held at the practice on Wednesday 8th March and patients could come along and speak to a Healthcare Professional about how to Quit smoking.    This event was widely advertised  in advance and we had a number of patients who turned up and were referred to the Stop Smoking Team.

A similar day is planned for 2017 so keep an eye on this website for further details.

Carers Open Day

30th March 2017 from 10am to 4pm

This event was supported by a number of Carer organisations and some excellent speakers.  They talked about what it was being a carer for a partner, mother, sibling and grandparent and how they felt about members of their families having to take care of them for one reason or another.

We were also lucky enough to have a Young Carer come along and speak about her journey as a carer for her mother & siblings and what this has meant to her life.

Help was available from the organisations with advice, form filling, Carers Allowances, support groups, befriending groups and voluntary transport groups.

Coffee & Cake was served by our Patient Group representatives and many enjoyed the day saying that it was a facility that not many practices offered.

Please watch this website as The Meads are considering running a similar event later in 2017 and opening this up to a wider audience and other practices.

End.
